Director Business Development - Services & Support
Akamai is seeking an experienced and innovative business development leader in our global services and support organization. The position requires strong communication, relationship building and consulting skills in addition to solid familiarity with the technology services industry and M&A.
This person will be responsible for building relationships and partnerships with other services companies that complement our offerings. This person would develop and maintain these relationships globally with a strong tilt towards the Americas, the primary goal being the identification of new revenue generation opportunities for the services organization and the company. A secondary part of this job includes participating in M&A activities initiated by other divisions or services that impact the services and support organization. This individual will work closely with the services business leaders to ascertain the M&A impact across the teams and will represent the services and support teams in these conversations.
Responsibilities
* Define and drive strategic partnerships with key technology services companies that have complementary offerings
* Understand the technology services landscape and provide feedback to the organization as is related to product roadmaps etc.
* Participate in M&A activities impacting services and support. Be the spokesperson for services and support when it comes to M&A activities.
* Present to an executive audience
* Effective peer leadership across various groups throughout the company.
* This role requires frequent travel around the Americas (~30%).
About the Team
The Global Services and Support organization have over 1500+ individuals that are focused on delivering best in class services and support to our large and diverse customer base. While a large part of our revenue comes from recurring contracts with our customers, we’re constantly looking for ways to diversify and build our revenue stream through partnerships. Akamai is looking for an individual who has experience and skills in technical negotiation and business development to join this team.
Required Education and Experience
* Minimum 12 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree
Required Skills
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the technology industry.
* Minimum of 5 years in a business development role building partnerships or sales opportunities.
* Must be willing to travel up to 30%
Desired Skills
* MBA preferred
* Knowledge of Akamai’s products and services.
* Understanding of the technology services industry and various customer engagement models.
* Understanding of Finance and Accounting principles as it relates to M&A activities.
* Excellent organization skills and a desire to negotiate partnerships given technical and business constraints.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Internet protocols, Content Delivery Networks (CDN’s) and networks.
