Technical Writer
Akamai’s Network Documentation team needs a technical writer to produce and update documentation and training materials about the hardware we use to carry Internet traffic. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts in Akamai’s Networks group as well as technical experts across the Networks organization. You’ll review the work of your fellow writers, and be your audience’s champion as you focus on helping them do their best and most efficient work
Responsibilities:
* Work with subject matter experts to create, update and refine hardware installation and repair tasks.
* Work with subject matter experts and trainers to edit and update training material for field technicians.
* Revise existing internal documentation and create new technical documentation about planning, deploying, and maintaining the Akamai network.
About the Team
The Networks organization builds and maintains Akamai’s EdgePlatform—one of the world’s largest distributed platforms. This platform handles a significant portion of the world’s Internet traffic. As a member of our Network Documentation team, you’ll create documentation that helps field technicians build and maintain the deployed network. You’ll produce and revise informational materials, including task, reference and conceptual materials.
* Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience
Required Skills
* 0-2 years experience writing or editing for a technical audience
Desired Skills
* Excellent knowledge of English spelling and grammar
* Excellent interpersonal, technical writing, and communication skills
* Familiarity with technical computing terms, especially computer hardware terminology
* Experience working with a Web-based content development platform or a text markup language
