Senior Business Development Manager
As a Senior Business Development Manager at Akamai you will be responsible for demonstrating sales strategy and leadership to assist in identifying, prospecting, closing and growing new account business for the Mobile Business Unit. You will be expected to build a healthy and sustainable pipeline to meet aggressive monthly quotas. You will achieve target quotas by enabling, supporting and guiding Akamai field sales teams. You are expected to have an excellent knowledge of the Americas market, have experience and established relationships within the regional channel ecosystems and a strong list of contacts and existing relationships to leverage.
Additionally, you will be connected with C-level management and have a solid grasp of successful channel strategies within the region and an understanding of the industry specific requirements therein. The ideal BD Manager will have a balance of strategic and tactical sales expertise. Akamai’s field employs Solutions Selling as a structured methodology for managing the sales process and more accurately forecasting monthly and quarterly business. A proven track record using Solution Selling to effectively develop and close business is a must.
About the Team
The Emerging Mobile team is focused on developing new, innovative products that leverage Akamai’s unique visibility into Internet traffic and its highly distributed cloud platform. You will be working with a team that is focused on developing new and groundbreaking mobile products with global impact.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
* 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
* 3 years of relevant experience and a PhD
Required Skills
* 8+ years of experience in the IT industry selling enterprise solutions
* 5+ years of experience selling to mobile application developers and/or mobile networks
* Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
Desired Skills
* Experience in mobile development solutions
* Proven track record of growing a business and consistently exceeding quota
* Demonstrated sales and general managerial values – ranging from a strong sense of ethics, sales performance, business integration (direct sales, channel sales, services, etc)
* Formal sales training in solution selling and/or value and successfully executing complex sales cycles with CXO’s
* Strong knowledge of Internet and telecommunications concepts and an ability to discuss them with intelligence and conviction
* Ability to build a range of customers and partners contacts within Akamai’s target verticals across the region
* Experience successfully building sales volume through a partner ecosystem
* Experience successfully executing a sales plan that led to a dominant position with 2+ of Akamai’s target verticals
* Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues across a global organization
* Inspirational leadership, can articulate a clear vision and set the overall strategy and goals for the business
