Overview
This role will be focused on building test automation scripts, and executing both automated and manual tests. The goal is to ensure quality code releases that are highly resilient, scalable, and performing optimally on our state-of-the-art distributed infrastructure. The scope of verification will encompass formulating and building extensive test cases and methodologies to verify new functionalities and features for different releases; identifying defects and areas of optimization; and applying innovative software testing methodologies.
As a Senior Development QA you will be responsible for:
* Creating, deploying and maintaining automated system tests to replicate real-world scenarios.
* Contributing to system test methodologies, test plans and highly effective test automation.
* Conceptualizing, designing and integrating automated solutions to optimize the performance of new and existing automation frameworks.
* Collaborating with cross-functional team members within and across business units to leverage internal product knowledge and expertise.
* Working in parallel on more than one QA project at a time, efficiently managing time and prioritizing test efforts.
About the Team
This team is part of Akamai's System Communications group, which is comprised of engineers who develop and manage distributed systems that support and enable Akamai's global network. In general these systems operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly scalable core of Akamai's configuration and health monitoring systems. This team is responsible for our systems that distribute and manage our metadata control channels. These are large and complicated distributed systems that are a central component of the Akamai Platform and used by hundreds of applications to provide safe & secure control channels to software running across the world.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
* 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
* Relevant experience and a PhD
Required Skills
* 5+ years of experience in software quality and/or software development engineering.
* 3+ years of programming experience in Python,Perl, and/or Java.
* 3+ years of experience working with Unix/Linux Operating Systems.
Desired Skills
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Experience testing RESTful Web Services.
* Experience with automation tools (preferably open source) including but not limited to: Robot, Selenium, SoupUI Pro, AutoIT, Sahi Pro, etc.
