Supply Chain Project Manager
Supply Chain Project Managers are responsible for all activities performed in support of our Supply Chain organization. This individual will work closely with manufacturers, 3PLs, carriers, repair vendors, and other Akamai network members.
Responsibilities include:
*Analyze business data and prepare trend analysis to determine consumption rate of network components.
*Based on consumption rate and ordering lead-times, establish appropriate threshold limits for material and makes decisions to increase or decrease to support business needs.
*Participate in cross-functional meetings with Planning, Design, Engineering, etc. to understand short-term and long-range strategies and inform procurement decisions accordingly.
*Identify materiel shortages and other unforeseen conditions and work collaboratively with other business groups (design; engineering, etc.) to understand component roles and impacts of delays.
*Monitor pending deployments and recommend inter-warehouse transfers, project sequencing and equipment substitutions to balance on-time deployment and overall deployment cost.
*Display a strong sense of urgency in researching, tracking and correcting supply problems, working directly with vendors to resolve issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
*Acquire a broad understanding of the function, department, and business by cross-training and supporting other needs in Network, as requested. Develop technical understanding of equipment used by Akamai.
*Develop corrective action procedures/processes to address and limit financial exposure to business because of inventory errors/shortages/expedites.
*Monitor equipment inventories (flagging inventory discrepancies, correcting, and communicating activity to the procurement lead).
*Work with Service Management and Hardware Engineering to proactively acquire international certifications.
*Maintain the procurement relationship with vendors and provide feedback for vendor scorecards.
About The Team:
The Supply Chain Group is part of the Network Productivity group. We work with Network Account Management. Network Partner Services, Service Management and Infrastructure Operations teams providing support so they can deploy and maintain the Akamai Network. Our primary responsibilities are encapsulated in the management of Akamai’s network equipment from birth to death. This includes, but is not limited to: import/export, procurement, warehousing, distribution, certification, customs regulations compliance, shipping, transportation, advance exchange, repairs, and asset end of life.
*Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Finance or another related field and 5 years of professional experience in Supply Chain.
Required Skills
*4-5 years of related experience in forecasting and procurement.
*4-5 years of proven problem solving skills.
*4-5 years of proven ability to work independently and perform highly detailed work.
*2-3 years of working with a team having strong collaboration skills
*3-4 years of negotiation and intercultural communication skills, both written and oral.
* 5 years minimum of strong computer skills with advanced MS Excel experience.

*Strong analytical skills: financial and operational.
*Proven vendor management experience.
*Excellent project management experience.
*Good knowledge of national and international procurement markets.
*Knowledge of product certification and customs regulations compliance.
*VBA, SQL, and database report-writing skills.
*Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems.
*Exposure to Siebel Sales.
